A weekend gathering at the University of San Diego offered training to defend the institution of marriage. It was a pilot student conference called “It Takes a Family to Raise a Village.”
The conference is the brainchild of Dr. Jennifer Roback Morse, founder and president of the Ruth Institute, a group dedicated to preserving one-man, one-woman marriage. “I feel like if we don’t have a good theory of the family,” she said, “we’re going to lose the free society to people who want massive government.”
Jamie Gruber, executive director of the Ruth Institute, said the conference covered marriage from all angles. “We brought in 32 college students from across the country,” she said, “to teach them how to better articulate the talking points of marriage.”
